Bio:

The band has been together since 2010 in various configuration with the current group the most stable.  It has performed at many local concerts and festivals.

 

Dan Buch, mandolin/fiddle, from Braeside, ON has played in several bands and has one CD to his credit with the band Corduroy Road.  Dan is currently on the Board of ValleyGrass.  Dan is a senior insurance adjuster in his day job.

 

Dave Porter, guitar, originally from Prescott, ON got started in bluegrass while in University and joined Mike O’Reilly and Alan Whatmough to form what they believe was Ottawa’s first bluegrass band around 1968.  Dave spend 9 years on the board ValleyGrass Board including about 4 as President.  In addition he was Grass’Clippings Editor for 5 years, Vice Present of the Bluegrass Music Association of Canada for 4 years and has been Treasurer of the South Grenville Bluegrass festival since its inception in 2014.  Dave is a retired CPA and business owner.

 

Danielle Roberts, mandolin and the bands featured lead vocalist hails from Winnipeg where she began her music career in musical theatre.  She has recorded two country and bluegrass CD’s with Jeff and Jaimie Plager as ‘Dani & The Plager Boys’ and one with Corduroy Road.  Monday to Friday, Danielle is a senior Microbiologist with the federal government.

 

Sergeant Anthony Bacon, banjo, from Edmonton, AB is the Cellist for the Canadian Armed Forces, string quartet and plays all instruments in the violin family.  A consummate musician, Anthony is rapidly becoming one of the top bluegrass banjo players around.

 

James LeRiche, bassist, originally from Newfoundland, was the most recent addition to the band about 2 years ago.  James’ had been taking formal bass lessons from a professional instructor and has become very solid on the instrument.  James is a professional programmer with Mitel.

Dave Porter has recorded a single of his own song ‘Boys of The St. Lawrence’ featuring banjo and  flat-pick guitar breaks and vocal harmony by rising young bluegrass singer and virtuoso picker, Molly Tuttle who was recently named ‘Guitar Player of the Year’ by the International Bluegrass Music Association.  The final version should be available this spring.

 

The band is currently contemplating a CD.
